on the trip to cubal, we somehow ended up on top of the train. the locomotive broke down and they sent one from lobito to push us from behind – to try to start the engine at the front of the train, sort of like when you set a car running down hill to try to jump start it. anyway, we got out of the train when we were stopped and decided to film…suddenly the train started to move, so we jumped up on top of it so as not to be left out in the countryside. i happened to jump up on the locomotive. jim jumped on the next car with all the police and train officials who also scrambled at the last moment not to be left behind. it was all very james bond, as jim said. by the way, that little black metal thing to my left, is the only thing keeping me from flying off the train. and the mechanic is looking inside the locomotive, trying to fix it. i ended up interviewing him right there and then. not so sure how good the sound turned out….
